Elder Scrolls VI: It Seems to be a Long Wait

Elder Scrolls 6 is in pre-production, but it seems to be a long wait before its released. The Elder Scrolls was officially announced back in 2018 with a title teaser

Right now, the studio is focused on its new space-faring RPG Starfield, which is set to land this September.

In fact, even, Todd Howard said that he wished Elder Scrolls could’ve been released sooner. But even if it’s a while away, it’s certainly a very exciting time for Bethesda fans. Alongside Starfield, Fallout 5 has also been confirmed. There is a chance Fallout 5 will be released after Elder Scrolls 6. While we wait it out for more, read on below to find out everything we know so far about Elder Scrolls 6.

Elder Scrolls 6 is still in pre-production

Word got out in January 2022 that Elder Scrolls 6 maybe in pre-production which means that Elder Scrolls 6 could be out sometime in 2026.

As Howard said, “The vast majority of our development work is on Starfield right now but everybody works on everything so the projects kind of intertwine. It’s good to think of The Elder Scrolls 6 as still being in a design [phase]… but we’re checking the tech.”

Elder Scrolls 6 Might Have Xbox Exclusivity

It looks likely that The Elder Scrolls 6 will be an Xbox-exclusive title. Since Starfield was announced as an Xbox and PC exclusive at E3 2021, it seems likely Elder Scrolls 6 will follow the same path. Also, Xbox CFO Tim Stuart clarified reports about Elder Scrolls 6 being an Xbox exclusive.

Even if Elder Scrolls 6 is not a PC and Xbox Series X exclusive, the fact that it will likely be on Xbox Game Pass is a game-changer, as PS5 owners will have to buy the game at full price.

Teaser Trailer

All we’ve got is the teaser trailer Bethesda debuted at E3 2018.

It is speculated that Elder Scrolls 6’s gameplay is going to be there for the long haul, just like Skyrim. There’s likely going to be a bigger emphasis on replayability. Tiny choices at the beginning of the game end up massively changing big story beats. Judging from Howard’s remark about the technology and “what [Bethesda] wants it to do”, it sounds like the developers might be creating brand new gameplay mechanics to make Elder Scrolls 6 unlike anything we’ve seen before.
